John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts. Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Massachusetts.

Calvary from Norwich University, June 1927, Entered WWII as a Major in the Signal Corps. Electrical Engineer assigned to MIT July 1942-1945 on the Manhattan Project. He was present for the first Atomic Bomb Test 16 July 1945 at Alamagordo, New Mexico He retired from the Army Reserve as a Colonel in 1965 and died 13 March 1981. He attended basic training at the naval training center (ntc) in sampson, new york. Served as a chief electrician's mate with the seabees, 45th naval construction battalion in both the aleutian islands and in the south pacific. He was discharged at the separation center in boston, massachusetts on december 31, 1945 after serving three years, two months and seven days in the navy.
