John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts.
Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Taunton, Massachusetts. We believe that his ancestors were came from Northern England

Daniel Dodge, b. 23 May 1745 in Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
In the records of Colonial wars, his name appears as a private under Capt. Thomas Cowdin, serving from 18 March 1762 til Nov 12, 8 mo. 16 ds. At the Lexington Alarm in 1775 he marched from Palmer in Capt David Spear's Co. and served 6 days.
Daniel was the son of Francis Dodge and Sarah Dodge
Lineage - through Tristram Dodge, Block Island
Daniel Dodge, born 19 Jul 1757, Colchester, New London Co., Connecticut, and died 14 Sep 1807, Colchester, New London Co., Connecticut. Buried either Salem, Connecticut or Colchester, Connecticut.
He marched from Colchester, Conn. , on the Lexington alarm April, 1775. Served 22 days. Enlisted July 15, 1775, in 8th Co.., 8th Regt. Discharged Dec. 17, 1775. He is called of East Haddam, when he enlisted Jan 1, 1777, in Capt. Ely's Co., 1st Regt. Conn. Line, which was reorganized by Col. Jedediah Huntington in Jan. 1777, and participated in the Battle of Germantown, wintered at Valley Forge, and was in the Battle of Monmouth. Daniel Dodge walked home after the Monmouth fight. The births of the children are from Colonial Records, but for other information concerning his descendants thanks are due to his granddaughter, Miss S. Josephine Smith of Salem, Conn.
Daniel was the son of Jonathan Elihu Dodge and Marcy 'Mercy Or Mary' Williams
Lineage - through Tristram Dodge, Block Island
Daniel Dodge (1729 - 1814) enlisted as a Private in Col Fred Weissenfelt's company known as the Levies. On his tombstone are engraved the words "A revolutionary Hero". He was born in New London, CT; died in Westfield Flats, NY.
Daniel was the son of John Dodge and Elizabeth Stebbins.
