8-31-34 (Spencer Leader): Mrs. Julia A. (Sullivan) Dodge, seventy-seven, wife of Franklin K. Dodge, died last Wednesday at her home, 234 Main St. She was born in Westchester County, New York state, and had lived in Spencer for sixty-three years. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Franklin E. Dodge, Jr., Washington, D.C.; Charles A. and Robert B. Dodge of Spencer. She also leaves two grandchildren. She was a member of the Woman's auxiliary, A. L. The funeral will be held this afternoon at two o'clock at the Kingsley funeral home, 163 Main Street. The burial to be in Pine Grove cemetery.

A pleasant family gathering took place at the home of Franklin E. Dodge and wife last week. Mr. Dodge's mother, Mrs. Geo. J. Dodge of Charlton, and his son, Frank C. Jr. with his wide and little daughter Louise were the guests. Mrs. Dodge, who is one of the wealthy women of Charlton, is eighty-eight years old, but active, and is planning to spend the winter in Washington with her grandson. The four generations were photographed by Earl Battey.

Robert Dodge is in the photo to the right. To see him as a young boy with his mother, and then as a teenager, and then to read the notice of his death, makes one wonder what it was that depressed him so much that he felt he had to end his life.
