class="moz-text-html" lang="x-western">1-Noah DODGE was born about 1816 in New York.

      Noah married Calista EATON on 31 Mar 1844.   They had two children: Richard H. and Francis.
      2-Richard H. DODGE
      was born on 1 May 1844 in Lockport, Niagara County, New York. 

        Richard H. Dodge was born in Lockport, N. Y., May 1, 1844, son of Noah and Calista (Eaton) Dodge. He was educated in the district schools at Albion College and at Hillsdale College, in Michigan. In 1869 he left Hillsdale and went to Jackson, Mich., and November 7 of that year he arrived in Red Wing on a visit to friends, since which date he has made his residence in this section of the country. In the winter of his arrival he taught school in district No. 1, Gilmore, in the town of Isabelle, Wis. Several years thereafter he taught winters and summers, and in 1871 purchased from the Carpenter heirs a farm in Isabelle township. He was married April 28, 1872, to Lucy D. Parker, one of his former pupils, daughter of Abner W. and Emily (Griswell) Parker, old settlers of Pierce County. This union was blessed with nine children, six of whom are living. Lela is Mrs. J. L. Crandall, of Rayne, La.; Frank died in infancey; Abbie N. is Mrs. A. H. Spriggle, of Bay City, Wis.; Edith died in childhood; Ernest L. lives in Ladysmith, Wis., where he conducts a book store; Claude E., telegraph operator at Galena, Ill., was married June 24, 1908, to Lizzie M. Stolt, of Bay City. His twin, Edward, died in infancy; Ray H. lives in Bay City, Wis., and works for the C., B. & Q.; Emily C. is single and lives at home. Mr. Dodge belongs to no particular church. In Bay City he was superintendent of Sunday school for many years; also taught singing-school and conducted the choir. He is a member of Bay City Camp, No. 6,252, Modern Woodmen of America, occupying the office of escort. He is overseer of Bay City Homestead, No. 975, Brotherhood of American Yeoman, and a member of A. E. Welch Post, No. 75, G. A. R., of Red Wing, Minn. He has been delegate to the congressional convention at Chippewa Falls, Wis.; to the state convention at Madison, Wis., and to many county conventions. He has held every office in the township of Isabelle except assessor, beginning his office holding in 1872, when he was first elected town clerk. The last term of service as clerk has dated since 1900, and he still holds that position. Mr. and Mrs. Dodge have a pleasant home in Bay City, well furnished and plentifully supplied with good books and current literature. Our subject served in the Civil war, enlisting at the age of nineteen in Company H, Eleventh Michigan Volunteer Cavalry, in 1863, from Jackson, Mich. In the spring of 1865 the regiment was consolidated with the Eighth Michigan Cavalry as Company B, and mustered out at Nashville, Tenn., on the 22d day of September 1865.

        Richard married Lucy D. PARKER daughter of Abner W. PARKER and Emily GRISWELL on 28 Apr 1872 in Pierce County, Wisconsin.   They had ten children: Lila, Frankie F., Abbie Nora, Edith, Ernest L., Claude E., Edward, Emily, Walter S., and Ray H..

        The book says that Lucy had given birth to 9 children:  Lela, Frank, Abbie, Edith, Ernest, Claude, Edward, Ray, and Emily.  There is no mention of Walter.1

        Research Notes: The 1910 Census indicates that Lucy had given birth to 9 children, and that 6 of them were still living at the time of the census.

          3-Lila DODGE was born about 1873 in Wisconsin.

          Marriage Notes: The couple lived in Rayne, Louisiana, in 1909.

          3-Frankie F. DODGE was born on 7 Aug 1876, died on 22 Feb 1877 in probably, Isabelle Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin, and was buried in Bay City Cemetery, Pierce County, Wisconsin.

          3-Abbie Nora DODGE was born on 9 Jul 1877 in Bay City, Isabelle Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin, died on 30 Jan 1944 in Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota, at age 66 (St. John's Hospital, Red Wing, Minnesota), and was buried in Bay City Cemetery, Pierce County, Wisconsin.  The cause of her death was acute Myocarditis. 

          General Notes: Abbie's birthplace was "said prairie 2 miles west of Bay City, Wisconsin," as noted on the birth certificate of her son, Harry Lester Spriggle.

          1930 Census calls her "Ebbie."

          Abbie married Arthur Harry SPRIGGLE son of William p. SPRIGGLE and Mary A. LUTY, bet July 1896 & May 1897.  They had five children: LaVina D., Harry Lester, Rollin R., Leon Francis, and Caroline E..

          General Notes: Arthur was born "two miles east of Bay City, Wisconsin," according to the birth certificate of his son,  Harry Lester.

            4-LaVina D. SPRIGGLE was born in Mar 1898 in Wisconsin and died in 1975, at age 77. 

            LaVina married COATY  They had two children: Earl L. and Arthur C..

            5-Earl L. COATY was born about Jun 1917 in Minnesota.

            5-Arthur C. COATY was born about Jun 1918 in Wisconsin.

            LaVina married Unknown (No surname)  They had one child: Diane.

            5-Diane(No surname)

            4-Harry Lester SPRIGGLE was born on 29 Jan 1906 in Bay City, Isabelle Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin and died in 1957, at age 51.  Other names for Harry were Lester H.  and Lester Harry. 3 

            General Notes: Harry weighed six pounds at birth.  He was born at the home of R.H. Dodge, who was the town clerk.

            4-Rollin R. SPRIGGLE was born in 1907 in Wisconsin and died on 27 Apr 1946 in Goodhue County, Minnesota, at age 39.

            4-Leon Francis SPRIGGLE was born on 8 Apr 1911 in Bay City, Isabelle Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin, died on 25 Jul 1979 in Hennepin County, Minnesota, at age 68, and was buried in Bay City Cemetery, Pierce County, Wisconsin.  Other names for Leon were Leon, and Leon Francis. 

            4-Caroline E. SPRIGGLE was born on 20 Jul 1912 in Bay City, Isabelle Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin, died on 29 Dec 1928 in Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota, at age 16 (St. John's Hospital, Red Wing, Minnesota), and was buried in Bay City Cemetery, Pierce County, Wisconsin (Bay City Cemetery, Pierce County, Wisconsin). 

            General Notes: Caroline's death certificate states that her birthdate was 20 July 1911.  The 1920 Census says that she turned 7 on her last birthday, which was before 6 Jan 1920.  According to that census, then, she was born in 1912.  The Bay City Cemetery Tombstone Transcription Index says that she lived from 1912-1928.  This same index says that her older brother, Leon, was born 8 Apr 1911.  If his birthdate is accurate, then Caroline could not have been born in 1911.  I suspect she was actually born after January in the year 1912.

            Caroline married Gilbert Leon RIGHTMAN son of Hiram Gilbert RIGHTMAN and Sarah M. JACKSONJackson.   They had one child: Billy Gilbert.

            5-Billy Gilbert RIGHTMAN was born on 22 Dec 1928 in Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota (St. John's Hospital, Red Wing, Minnesota) and died on 28 Nov 1996, at age 67. 

          3-Edith DODGE was born in Sep 1879 in Wisconsin.

          General Notes: Died in childhood.

          3-Ernest L. DODGEDodge:Ernest L. .

          General Notes: Lived in Ladysmith and ran a bookstore in 1909.

          3-Claude E. DODGEDodge was born in Mar 1884 in Wisconsin.

          General Notes: Possibly the E. Claud Dodge listed in 1920 Census, Iowa, Buchanan, Other Twps ED 75 Sheet 4B (page 8 of 22)

          In 1909 Claude was a telegraph operator in Galena, Illinois.

          Claude and Edward were twins.  Edward died in infancy.

          Claude married Lizzie M. STOLT on 24 Jun 1908 in Probably Pierce County, Wisconsin.1 

          3-Edward DODGE was born in Mar 1884. 

          General Notes: Claude and Edward were twins.  Edward died in infancy.

          3-Emily DODGE was born in Feb 1888 in Wisconsin.

        General Notes: Could be the Francis Marion Dodge buried in Bay City Cemetery with wife Rilla M.  He was born 11 Aug 1846 and died 18 Sep 1902.  Rilla lived from 1861 to 1949.
