Samuel Dodge was b. 15 Jun 1794, Wiscasset, Lincoln Co., Maine and d. 30 Dec 1880, Wiscassett, Lincoln Co., Maine. He was the son of Thomas Dodge, Jr. and Phebe Sylvester. He married Mary Briggs Sep 1815, Wiscasset, Lincoln Co., Maine. Their stones are side by side. James L Dodge was the son of Jason Dodge and Anna S. Tibbetts. He married Laura A. Davis. They had at least 6 children.
J. Ivan Dodge was the son of James L. Dodge, grandson of Jason Dodge and Anna S. Tibbetts. Above we see again, the stone of James L. Dodge and his wife, Laura A., but this time they are viewed with the stone in memory of their son, Miles Harris Dodge who was killed in France during World War I. Miles was born Dec. 18, 1896 in Liberty, Maine. Evidently, he traveled to New York and there is a possibility that he worked at a newspaper there for a short time. He entered the Service from New York, 5th United States Marine Corp, Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed in action May 25, 1918 and is buried at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. Miles brother, Charles, was also in the war and was stationed in the same area as Miles. Charles went to see his brother, only to find out that he had been killed a week previous. Miles was the grandson of Jason Dodge and Anna S. Tibbets and the great grandson of John Edward Dodge and Rhoda Tibbetts. This is a mystery Dodge line as we have not yet been able to go back further in this ancestry.
