John Dodge/Theodocia Dodge Marriage Bond
  Know all men by these presents that we John Dodge and Richard Winchester are held and firmly bound 
unto the commonwealth of Kentucky in the Just and full sum of fifty pounds united states currency which 
payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs  jointly severally and firmly by 
these presents  sealed with our seals and dated this 30th day of July 1811.
  The condition of the above obligation is such if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage 
shortly to be solemnized between the above bound John Dodge and ? Theodicia Dodge for which a license 
this day issued then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue in law.

Affidavit from Minister
   This is to certify that on the first day of August 1811 John Dodge and Theodosha Dodge came before me 
and was joined together in holy wedlock according to the rite and ceremony of the Methodist Episcopal 
church given under my hand this 24th day of July 1812.

 John and Theodocia’s date of marriage is widely reported as 24 Jul 1812.  That is actually the date of the 
affidavit.  The marriage date was 01 Aug 1811.
