The name, Diadema or variation thereof, may have been common back then but is only found in our Tristram Dodge data base and only in the family of the parents and descendents of Rev. Josiah Dodge. That is why I still believe that this mystery belongs in this family. Oh, I forgot, also, the connection with SPOTSWOOD surname. Spotswood Dodge, was a son of one of the Dodges in this line who married a Spotswood. > Spotswood Josiah DODGE (Rev.) > [NI01853] 16 Oct 1819 - ____ > > . TITLE: Rev. > > . I think this has to be a descendent of possibly Spotswood Josiah Dodge, or possibly a descendent of one of his brothers, Washington Alexander, Jerial George, Josiah, or Israel Alexander. In fact, Israel, died 19 May 1898 in Brady Texas. He married Frances Aurelia Weaver in Hickman , KY 20 Dec 1866, and we have two children for him, but he could have had more. > > The brother, Josiah, ended up in California and it seems several of his chidlren did also. > The brother, Jerial George, b. There are at lest two Jerial George Dodges tho Jerial is spelled Jeriel in one of the names...and look at all of the Alexanders....and one of the sisters of Spotswood is Elizabeth LEWIS Dodge, so for Spotswood to have a grandson, named E. LEWIS Dodge is not out of the realm of possibility. > > If only I did not have everything else to do that I do, I probably would go on a one woman crusade to try to find out as much as possible about the family, backing up to John Dodge and his wife Lydia Rogers becaue this is where I see several of the naming patterns start...Josiah, Jeremiah, Jerial, Jordon, Thomas, Israel, etc. > > Also, After Lydia died, (2 months after) John married again an Elizabeth Willis, and there may be more children there, and then he married a Martha Shaw. > > Their child, Jordan had a girl, Deidama > Grandson, Josiah Rogers Dodge had a girl, Diadamus > Great grandson, John Adams Dodge has a girl, Deidamia > > I have looked at this family long and hard and am even more convinced that E. Perhaps Chuck could try to find something in the 1900 and 1910 census records. There are more Diademas than you could possibly imagine, which surprised me a little bit because it seems like such an usual name - but, in the 1700s and 1800s it was not that uncommon. > > > > I'm afraid I've been no help to you on this at all - I may have just muddied the waters.
