Colonel Robert Livingston Dodge

In 1981, Colonel Robert Dodge had the vision of a family association, where Dodge descendants could strengthen their ties with each other and promote the strong Dodge family values. He contacted Earl Dodge of Colorado and Virginia Dodge Murphy of California with this idea, and together the three of them formed the Dodge Family Association. Colonel Dodge served as the first Association President from 1981 to January of 1997, when he passed the baton to Everett J. Dodge of California. He was born in Massachusetts and while still very young, moved with his family to San Diego, California. He was a pilot in the United States Air Force, where his assignment included staff and command assignments as a Squadron Commander, Air Police, and Intelligence Staff Officer. During W.W.II he was stationed in England. In 1950 he married Hilda Margaret Niedermann, of Arcadia, California. They have one son, two daughters, and one grandchild.

While he was in the San Diego Police Dept., he headed the Narcotic Enforcement program. He was past San Diego chapter President of the Air Force Association and Sons of the American Revolution, past Vice Flight Captain Order of Daedaliens, and for many years was the Vice President for Aerospace Education of the Air Force Assoc. He is a visiting officer for the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is also a Supervisor of Military Academy Applications for Congressman Duncan Hunter of California.

For several years, Col. Robert Dodge collected new Dodge genealogy and our 1998 update and history is a result of that work. It is in the same format as the Dodge Genealogy by Joseph Thomson Dodge, (1898) and is a continuation of the information in that book. It also contains information on many other Dodges who are still trying to find their tie with either William and Richard, or Tristram.

Col. Dodge is also accepting genealogical information for inclusion in future books. If you wish to send in this type of information, please contact the Dodge Family Association with your genealogy information.
